Can't make it to the kick-off event? No problem! The party doesn't stop there. We've got events and programs all throughout June and July! You can view our full event calendar here. Paper calendars of upcoming events will be provided when you sign-up for the SRP.

Summer Reading FAQs

Anyone! MCPL provides four different Summer Reading Programs to ensure all patrons have an opportunity to participate. We have one for PreK (haven't started school yet), children (elementary), teens (middle & high school), and adults.

Signups begin at the Summer Reading Kick-Off on Saturday, May 31. After that, you can sign up at any branch of the library.

Rising 6th graders (students who completed 5th grade in May 2024) can participate in either the children's program (elementary school) or teen program (middle and high school), but they cannot participate in both.

For most programs, all ages are welcome unless denoted in the program description. The exception to this is our teen programs. For the safety of all participants, we ask that all participants in the teen program be a rising 6th-12th grader.

Parents must stay with children 5 and under. If a child is under the age of 10, they must be picked up immediately following the program.

Of course! Our Bookmobile will be out and about in the community to offer library services--including the Summer Reading Program--to residents throughout Marshall County. You can see their summer schedule here.

A printed calendar will be coming soon! You can also see a list of all summer programs on our online Events Calendar

Don't worry! It happens all the time. Just come into the library, and someone at the desk will help you get a new one.
