Feb. 21, 2013 - Bestselling Author Visits With Marshall County Teens

Photo of Samantha Young. Benton, KY – "Being a professional writer is work," author Samantha Young told a group of Marshall County teens. "Natural talent is good, but working hard is what will make you successful."

Young spoke with members of the Marshall County Public Library’s Orbis de Scriptors, a teen writing group, via Skype on February 20. The teens gathered at the Calvert City branch of the library and were able to see, hear, and even ask questions to the author as she visited with them from her home in Scotland.

Young is the author of over a dozen YA novels and the New York Times bestselling adult book On Dublin Street. She offered the teens advice on the writing process and information on what it takes to be a full-time author.

The Orbis de Scriptors group meets on the third Wednesday of the month at the Marshall County Public Library @Calvert City. On April 20 the group will be chatting with more writers, including Sarah MacLean and Jackson Pearce, at their second annual Teen Writers Conference.
