Ella
Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
Review by Inkgirl
I got hooked on Gail Carson Levine
when I was nine. A friend recommended Ella Enchanted and I read it
nine times that year.
If you've seen the movie, forget that it exists. It's possibly the
worst movie ever (a bit exaggerated, but not much). Anyone who has
ever read the book hates the movie. Whoever made the movie hated the
book.
You know the premise. Ella
was given the gift of obedience. But it turned into a curse.
She has to obey any direct order, even if she was ordered to cut off her
head.
Ella sets off to try to rid herself of the curse.
It isn't easy between her uncaring father, evil stepmother and evil
stepsisters. With the help of her fairy godmother, Ella sets of on a
quest to be free from her curse and win the heart of the ever-so-good
prince Char.
Will three balls and a glass
slipper save her? Or will she have to save herself?
Wonderfully told, you'll never tire of this take on Cinderella |
