The
Princess Bride by William Goldman
Review by Inkgirl
Sure you've seen the movie.
And William Goldman even wrote the screenplay. But trust me.
You don't really know the Princess Bride until you've read the book.
William Goldman writes as if he has edited a book by S. Morgenstern so
that you only have to read the "good bits" and not all that's
boring and unnecessary.
William Goldman also puts in comments (editor's notes) which are
hysterical. Goldman has an incredible dry sense of humor. His
work is laugh-out-loud tongue-in-cheek all the way through.
You even get back-story on Fezzik and Inigo.
For more fun order the "missing reunion scene" online; you
really can, now. And since both "Morgenstern" as a cynic
& writer and Goldman as "realist" and editor have their own
interpretations of the end, you make up one as the reader yourself!
Have fun! |
