Blue Bloods
by Melissa de la Cruz
Review by Allie
Schuyler Van Alen adventures
through things she thought unimaginable for somebody like her. First
she goes to a night club, she's only like 15, called The Bank with
her best friend Oliver. There she talks to, for the first time in
her history-literally, Jack Force, the most popular guy at Duchesne, when
she's the most UNpopular girl. The following Monday at school they
were informed that a girl, Aggie, who was at the club next to The
Bank, also a Blue Blood, had died. Then she's told some details
about her life that she, at first, think is absolutely insane after
discovering that her blue veins are becoming more visible and she gets an
invitation to The Committee, a private group for Blue Bloods. Blue Bloods
are vampires who've settled in the 17th century at Plymouth
Rock. Schuyler makes new friends Dylan and Bliss-she's Mimi's
sidekick, Mimi is Jack's sister, and Bliss develops a crush on Dylan-but
after a terrible accident Dylan disappears causing Bliss, Schuyler, and
Oliver to come closer together. Will they find their beloved friend?
Will they bring Jack Force into all this since he's the one who started
the belief that Silver Bloods are behind everything until his father set
him straight? This calls for an interesting time of reading.

Masquerade
by Melissa de la Cruz
Review by Allie
Masquerade is the mystical sequel to Blue Bloods.
At first Schuyler is in Italy looking for her grandfather and discovers
he is no help in the matter. A let down. Once she's back
in New York, she goes to the 400 Ball receiving all eyes, especially
those of Jack Force. She, surprised to get it, gets a text message
telling her she's invited to the after-party; after thinking that
Oliver would already be asleep she decides to let her promise go and go
to the party...but for one reason. There she stands away from all
the commotion and waits to see Jack. Of course she couldn't recognize
him because of all the guys wearing similar clothing and the masks that
were required to get into the fun. A mysterious guy, who she
claimed to be Jack, talked to her for a moment and then....
Over the weeks, Mimi Force gets tired of Schuyler and
wants to be rid of her for good. She talks to her new friend, who
just so happens to be into the whole Dark Side spells and stuff.
He tells her to call upon the Silver Bloods, this way she can control it
to kill her worst enemy, Schuyler. Not long after, Mimi is accused of
being one of the Bad Guys, hosting the Silver Bloods. She has to
go to Italy to be destroyed unless Schuyler's mom wakes up from her
coma.....
Is Mimi really hosting the Silver Bloods? Or is she
being set up? Will Schuyler survive her Mystery Man?
There's only one way to find out....read it.
